Na manhã desta segunda-feira, dia 11 de outubro, uma baleia da espécie jubarte foi encontrada morta na praia da Barra do Saí, em frente à Rua 250. O animal já estava em estado de decomposição.

As causas da morte do mamífero de grande porte estão sendo investigadas. Uma equipe do Projeto de Monitoramento de Praias da Bacia de Santos (PMP-BS) realizou a necrópsia do animal na tarde desta mesma segunda-feira (11/10).

Por serem de grande porte, essa necrópsia é realizada na praia onde a baleia é encontrada mesmo. Na sequência, a Prefeitura é quem dá a destinação correta, enterrando a baleia.

O PMP-BS Área SC/PR atua monitorando a costa litorânea de Laguna a Guaraqueçaba (PR) em busca de animais marinhos encalhados desde 2015. Neste ano de 2021, já registrou 29 baleias jubarte sem vida nas praias, considerando a encontrada nesta segunda-feira (11).

Levantamento do Projeto ainda dá conta de que foram 38 baleias jubarte mortas no Paraná e em Santa Catarina este ano, mas nem todas encalharam.

Nesta época do ano, as baleias jubarte estão no ciclo migratório em todo o litoral brasileiro, sendo que a principal área de concentração fica em Abrolhos, entre os estados da Bahia e do Espírito Santo.

É importante que as embarcações, ao avistarem uma baleia viva e nadando em nosso litoral, sigam a legislação e mantenham distância mínima de 100 metros do animal, para não interromper o deslocamento dele ou estressá-lo.
